A Joyful Château Wedding in Bordeaux for a French-Irish Gay Couple
Love knows no borders — and neither did this wedding.
Quentin and Daniel, a young French-Irish couple living in Ireland, chose the vineyards of Bordeaux as the backdrop for their elegant destination wedding. After a heartfelt proposal during a trip to Japan, they dreamed of a celebration that would reflect their international love story, blending personal touches, a stunning château, and a guest experience to remember.
A few weeks before the wedding, Quentin and Daniel met with their photographer for an engagement session on the beach, near Arcachon — a place full of memories for them, and close to their hearts.
Far from the rush of the big day, this kind of shoot offers so much more than just beautiful photos. It's a moment to breathe, to connect as a couple, and to build trust and ease with your photographer. Walking along the sand, chatting freely, laughing — it's during these moments that magic happens.
An engagement session allows the photographer to better understand how to guide and photograph the couple naturally. It’s the perfect way to feel completely relaxed and confident in front of the camera when the wedding day comes.
And as a bonus? You’ll have gorgeous, spontaneous couple photos in a place that truly matters to you.
The venue: Château Couffins, a romantic gem near Bordeaux
Tucked away just outside Bordeaux, Château Couffins is the perfect setting for intimate yet luxurious weddings. With its lush shaded park, elegant château interiors, and outdoor space ideal for al fresco dining, it’s easy to see why Quentin and Daniel fell in love with this place.
The wedding began with a private first look inside the château — a quiet moment for the grooms before joining their guests.
A bilingual and emotional ceremony
The grooms made their entrance together, hand in hand, to join their guests seated under the trees. Their bilingual humanist ceremony, led by an English-speaking celebrant, was both moving and inclusive — switching between English and French so that every guest felt connected.
The cocktail hour took place in the park, where guests enjoyed signature drinks designed by the couple — including one inspired by their proposal trip to Japan, with delicate floral and citrus notes.
Dinner was served outdoors, under a beautiful Berber tent, with the château glowing in the background. Emotional speeches, music-filled entrances, and a towering pièce montée of choux set the tone for an unforgettable night.
