An Intimate Wedding Weekend in Biarritz at Domaine de Gaztelur

Welcome to Gaztelur — Where Heritage Meets Romance

Hidden in the rolling hills just outside Biarritz, Domaine de Gaztelur is more than a wedding venue — it’s an experience. A curated wonderland of antiques, flowers, towering trees, and mountain views, it was the dream location for this American couple’s destination wedding. With roots in Colombia, Mexico, and the Basque Country, they wanted something deeply personal, beautifully eclectic, and unmistakably French — and they found it.

The Couple’s Pre-Wedding Basque Experience

Before the "I dos," the bride and her closest friends enjoyed a perfectly relaxed day in Biarritz. A picnic on the sand at Port Vieux beach set the tone, followed by a luxurious afternoon at the Spa of the Hôtel du Palais — a pause of pure indulgence in one of the region’s most iconic locations. The rehearsal dinner was a good way to kick-off the celebration !

The couple also stayed at the iconic Hôtel Régina, overlooking the lighthouse, and got ready there the morning of the wedding. Its timeless Art Deco charm and stunning views offered the perfect contrast to the rustic elegance of Gaztelur.

An Editorial Ceremony

The ceremony took place in Gaztelur’s breathtaking glasshouse — a sun-drenched space where the chaises were laid out in a runway-style configuration, adding a bold fashion-forward twist to the moment. Every detail felt intentional, yet completely effortless.

Behind this visual poetry was Mar, the in-house floral artist at Gaztelur. More than a florist, Mar is a true creative force. Designing the floral concept together was a highlight of the planning process — her ethereal arrangements and botanical artistry transformed the space into something straight out of a dream.

And the soul of Gaztelur? That would be Olivier Granet, the artistic director of the venue. Olivier brings an unmatched vision to the space — balancing vintage finds, curated antiques, and lived-in textures to create a timeless, cinematic atmosphere. Collaborating with him is always an honor. Our passion for beauty and detail elevated this celebration to a new level.

A Wedding Day in Motion

The wedding day unfolded with grace — from emotional vows to an intimate dinner in the antique-filled dining room. Local artisans brought their talent to every part of the day: from the handmade stationery to the bespoke wedding cake and a one-of-a-kind gown crafted in the region.

Capturing it All — The Editorial Lens

We were lucky to work with Marta, a talented Italian photographer who once lived in Biarritz and recently returned to Italy. Her editorial eye, spontaneous approach, and use of film photography gave the gallery a magazine-like quality — effortlessly chic and full of life. Her candid shots told the story in the most sincere, stylish way.

A Destination Wedding That Felt Like Home

This celebration was everything I love about destination weddings: a few days of shared joy, cultural flavor, and incredible design — all in one of the most magical corners of France. With only 50 guests, the wedding felt intimate, personal, and rich in emotion.
